L'ITALIA ATTRAVERSO L'OBIETTIVO UNGHERESE
10 may – 29 may

Some countries attract the attention of the whole world. Italy is one such country. Everyone wants to visit it and, given the chance, to photograph it. This exhibition provides an occasion for rediscovering our country through the observations and interpretations of great Hungarian photographers. The exhibition showcases a selection of works from the magnificent collection of the Hungarian Photographic Museum. On display are around fifty works by photographers who depicted Italy during the 20th century, capturing the atmosphere in our country during various periods. Among the authors are the fine art photographers Angelo, Aladár Székely, and József Pécsi as well the documentary photographers János Reismann, Kata Sugár, and Márton Munkácsi, who portray the Orgosolo shepherds, fishermen from Palermo, according to their own vocation for realism lying beyond traditional monumental itineraries. Finally, sentimental photographers in search of the idyllic, or of outstanding beauty, like F.G. Haller and András Tokaji, masters who contributed to diffusing Hungarian photography worldwide. Curator: Károly Kincses Project carried out with the collaboration of the Hungarian Academy of Rome and the Hungarian Photographic Museum
