SOD. MYTH OF ORIGIN AND OTHER AFRICAN STORIES
6 april – 8 may

“Photography has a vital influence on my work and perception. Part of this influence concerns subtracting reality from the “overall context”. I deal with the parallel between the individual and the vague masses, encountered in the way the media express the world, by working on canvas, in order to reposition myself as well as transfer my impulses to the image.” Curated by: Stefania Miscetti

Doris Bloom
Doris Bloom was born in Vereenigieng, South Africa, in 1954, and studied at the Johannesburg Art College. In 1976 she moved to Copenhagen to study in the Design Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Art with Robert Jacobsen, and she still lives there today. Alongside her painting, an equally important space is dedicated to photography, installations and graphics. She has taken part in various international exhibitions, representing Denmark in the 1995 Johannesburg Biennial with a project developed together with William Kentridge. Her work was included in "Nuovi territori dell'arte. Europa/America", curated by Achille Bonito Oliva and in "Out of Africa" Contemporary Danish Art at the South Africa National Gallery.
